Pastor Sally Devotional 1/27

| January 27, 2022

Dear friends,

Sometimes we get more than we bargain for.  That’s what happened to me with this jigsaw puzzle.  My son Austin and his wife Alicia gave me this puzzle for Christmas this year.  They know I like jigsaw puzzles and almost always buy me a new puzzle for Christmas.

I was really excited when I saw this puzzle because it was like looking at 25 smaller puzzles each surrounded by red rick rack.  I thought, this is going to be easy, interesting and fun.  As it turns out it was interesting and fun, but not at all easy! I thought I’d start with the red frame work which was completely impossible!  Then all of those little puzzles were each harder than they looked with all of the colorful pieces looking alike.  This puzzle took me weeks to complete, although I really enjoyed the finished product.  Each of the individual pictures is a print of an historic stamp.  They are so much fun to look at.

Sometimes life is more than we bargain for.  At least there are certainly seasons when we take on too much, or our circumstances dish out more than we can manage.  I think I’ve been in such a season lately.  At such times, my working strategy is move slowly through each day, look for a little humor in my situation and lean on the strength of the Lord.  The writer of the book of Proverbs writes:

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,

and do not rely on your own insight.

In all your ways acknowledge him,

and he will make straight your paths.

                                Proverbs 3: 5-6

Wishing you a day full of God’s grace,

Pastor Sally
