Pastor Sally’s Devotional 11/12

| November 12, 2020

Dear Friends,

Well, the numbers were depressing today.  Of course I’m talking about the Coronavirus numbers.  We broke the 6000 mark in Indiana today.  Specifically… we had 6,654 new cases in Indiana.  We also broke a new record in Elkhart county – 411 new cases.  That’s the first time we’ve crossed the 400 mark.  I suspect I don’t have to tell you that the Coronavirus is out of control in our state and especially in our county.  In Elkhart county we have the highest rate of infection per 100,000 people in the state.  Roughly one in 800 people are testing positive.  In our church we have had 5 people test positive that I know of.

I write today to urge you to be extra careful.  This is not the time to assume you won’t get this virus or that if you get it, you are strong enough to manage just fine.  Please be aware that this virus is very unpredictable.  It attacks young and old alike, and we simply don’t know if we are one of those who will have mild symptoms or if we will find ourselves in the ICU… or worse.  Now is the time to hunker down and be as super, super safe as you are able.  Here are some things to consider. On Nov 7, ETNT Health posted an article to the internet with a list of things Anthony Fauci recommends you do not do right now. They include the following:

                No to bars and Nightclubs

No to large holiday family celebrations

No to non-essential travel during the pandemic

                No to indoor dining

                No to gyms

                No to religious gathers

                No to theaters

                No to cruises

No to assuming you are not infected

No to taking off your mask

No to putting high risk people in danger

I share this with you because I am fond of all of you.  I’d like to have you around at the end of this pandemic.  And please know… this pandemic will end!  There is great news on the vaccine development which holds promise for our future.  I know we are all tired of this pandemic, but now is the time to be patient and careful, and believe God will bring us through this.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jer. 29:11)

We will get through this together!

Peace,

Pr. Sally
