From the Pastor's Pen

Pastor Sally’s Devotional 1/18

| January 18, 2021

Dear friends,

I want to say today that I appreciate Steve Seward.  There are probably a whole bunch of things for which I could appreciate Steve, but today I am thinking about his weekly kind communications on Sunday mornings.  Steve is one of our members who listens to our worship services on Sunday via the telephone.  Steve doesn’t have regular access to the internet to watch our services, but he dials in for our worship by telephone each Sunday and listens to the entire service.  Then, after the service is finished, he leaves a message of appreciation for the service.  Sometimes he comments on some music he has enjoyed.  Sometimes he comments on a part of the message that has caused him to think.  Then he thanks us for providing the service and says good bye.  I get his message right away by email and I always smile to listen to Steve’s voice and his kind words.

Steve is not the only member of our church who offers kind words and notes of appreciation.  I will tell you, at a time when I rarely see you all face to face, those notes of appreciate I receive are most valuable to me.  I have been taken with Steve’s messages, however, because they appear like clockwork each Sunday morning.  Steve is just a person who looks for the good in others and likes to point it out.  It is in his nature.  Some of us have to work at it a little harder.

Paul writes in the letter to the Christians in Thessalonica, “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.”  (I Thess. 5:11).  Go ahead and think of someone you appreciate today and be sure to tell them. (Think of someone beside me.  I’ve got Steve.)

Peace,

Pr. Sally
