Pastor Sally’s Devotional 6/8
Blog | June 8, 2020
Dear Friends,
I just finished teaching the first lesson for the Monday Night Genesis study. I am full of the wonder of creation tonight and amazement at the God who gives us life.
The picture above is of the bird’s nest in the corner of our front porch. I sent a picture of this nest a couple of weeks ago when mother Robin had just sat upon her newly laid eggs. Clearly the eggs have now hatched because mother Robin flies off constantly, returning with food for her babies. You can see her about to dip her beak into one of the little one’s mouths to feed them. Mike took a whole series of pictures of her dipping up and down into the nest before she flew away again to find more food.
Those little birds are completely unaware of the attention and care this mother Robin has for them. It is, to them, as natural as the warm nest that surrounds and protects them. Their whole life is a gift, and they don’t know it. I suppose the same could be said of us most days. Our whole life is a gift to us from God who loves us, but rarely are we aware of the care given us. “Look at the birds of the air,” said Jesus, “they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?”
Tonight I am grateful for the reminder of the creator of all life… our heavenly Father.
Peace,
Pr. Sally
